Wimbledon Withdrawals: Musetti, Alcaraz, and More Top Players Out Due to Injuries

Lorenzo Musetti has decided to withdraw from Wimbledon due to a rectus femoris injury that he sustained at the Italian Open. This injury has kept him out of competition since then, and he also missed Roland Garros. Despite reaching the semi-finals at Wimbledon two years ago, Musetti has made the tough choice to skip the tournament this year.

Wimbledon has faced more setbacks with the withdrawal of two-time former champion Carlos Alcaraz and players Valentin Vacherot and Arthur Cazaux on the men's side. On the women's side, British player Sonay Kartal and world No. 9 Victoria Mboko have also pulled out due to injuries. Additionally, Hailey Baptiste and Veronika Kudermetova will not be participating in the tournament.

In a social media announcement, Musetti shared that his rehabilitation is progressing well, but he has not been able to start full athletic training yet. After careful evaluation, he and his team have decided that he will not be able to compete at Wimbledon this year. Musetti expressed gratitude for the support and hopes to return to the court at full strength soon.

With Musetti's withdrawal, Matteo Berrettini, the 2021 Wimbledon finalist, has secured a spot in the main draw. Berrettini, who was initially ranked outside the top 100, has climbed back up to No. 49 after a strong performance at the French Open. Despite a mid-match retirement in Paris, Berrettini confirmed that his injury was not severe and he is working on his rehabilitation to be ready for Wimbledon.

As Wimbledon approaches, the tournament has seen several top players withdraw due to injuries, including Musetti, Alcaraz, and Kartal. The competition will still feature a strong field of players vying for the prestigious Wimbledon title.
