Unfortunately, Belgian cyclist Wout van Aert will not be able to participate in the upcoming Tour de France due to an elbow injury that has not fully healed. Van Aert, who recently won the Paris-Roubaix classic, sustained the injury during a training fall and subsequently developed an infection in the wound. Despite efforts to treat the injury, van Aert's recovery has not progressed as expected, leading to the decision to withdraw from the Tour de France. The rider expressed his disappointment at missing out on one of his main goals for the year but acknowledged that starting the race in top form was not feasible given his current condition. Team Jumbo-Visma, van Aert's team, emphasized the importance of prioritizing his health and recovery, ultimately deciding that it was best for him to sit out the Tour de France. The team will announce van Aert's replacement on June 23, ahead of the final Tour de France selection presentation.
