Collaborative Law Enforcement Operation in Cleveland Leads to 11 Arrests and Confiscation of Illegal Firearms

A recent coordinated operation in Cleveland led to the arrest of 11 individuals on felony charges and the confiscation of eight illegally possessed firearms. The joint effort involved multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Cleveland Division of Police, Ohio State Highway Patrol, Ohio Investigative Unit, Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department, and the U.S. Marshals Service. This operation was part of Ohio's ongoing Violent Crime Reduction Initiative, aimed at targeting violent offenders and illegal firearm possession through collaborative enforcement actions.

Among the arrests made during the operation was Antoine Williams, 25, who attempted to flee from officers during a traffic stop in Cleveland's Mount Pleasant neighborhood. Williams was charged with failure to comply and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle after investigators discovered he was unlawfully carrying a handgun. Another individual, Tremaine Harris, 29, was arrested by Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers following a traffic stop where he resisted arrest and was found in possession of a loaded handgun.

In addition to the arrests, the Ohio Investigative Unit, with the assistance of the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit, made six felony arrests and seized five firearms during the operation. One of the arrests involved a 17-year-old who was allegedly carrying a concealed firearm, leading to charges pending in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court. The charges in these cases included failure to comply, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and aggravated drug possession.

Since the beginning of 2026, law enforcement agencies participating in Ohio's Violent Crime Reduction Initiative have conducted over 33 operations in 21 communities statewide, resulting in more than 240 felony arrests and the recovery of 130 illegal firearms. These ongoing efforts demonstrate the commitment of Ohio law enforcement to combatting violent crime and illegal firearm possession to ensure the safety of the public.
