Grateful Dead Unveils 'Big River' from 50th-Anniversary Remaster of Steal Your Face Live Album

Grateful Dead has unveiled another track from the upcoming 50th-anniversary remaster of their Steal Your Face live album. The latest release features a rendition of the song "Big River," originally by Johnny Cash. This follows the previously released performance of "Black Throated Wind."
According to Dead archivist David Lemieux, "Big River" has always been a favorite among fans. The band's version of the song from 1974 is considered one of the best, making it a standout track on Steal Your Face.
The 50th-anniversary remaster of Steal Your Face is scheduled for release on June 26, marking half a century since the album's initial debut. The remastered edition will be available as a two-LP set in The Dead's signature Pantone colors, Grateful Red and Stealie Blue, with a unique color split design and black splatter.
Originally recorded during The Dead's farewell tour in 1974 at the Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco, Steal Your Face captures the essence of the band's live performances during that era. The tour marked a temporary break for the band, which resumed performing in June 1976.
Fans can now preorder the 50th-anniversary remaster of Steal Your Face, which will be available for streaming, digital download, and as a vinyl release. Get ready to experience the iconic sounds of Grateful Dead in a whole new light with this special edition release.
