Clayface: A Dark and Gritty DCU Movie Set to Hit Theaters Soon

A new DCU movie titled Clayface is set to hit theaters soon, with rumors suggesting a runtime of approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes. This runtime is shorter than that of the popular DC film Joker. The movie is said to focus on darker themes, setting it apart from traditional comic book adaptations.
According to leaks, a recent test screening of Clayface received positive feedback from audiences. The film is compared to Joker and reportedly includes references to Vanilla Sky, Substance, and Marvel's The Incredible Hulk. Clayface is scheduled for release on October 23, just in time for the Halloween season, as part of the DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters lineup.
Directed by James Watkins, Clayface will explore the tragic backstory of the titular character, a former Hollywood star disfigured by a gangster. The film delves into themes of identity loss, revenge, love, and scientific ambition. The script was co-written by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini, with Tom Rhys Harries portraying the lead role. The supporting cast includes Naomi Ackie, David Dencik, Max Minghella, Eddie Marsan, Nancy Carroll, and Joshua James.
Clayface marks the live-action debut of the character in the DCU, following his animated appearance in Creature Commandos. Produced by James Gunn, Peter Safran, Matt Reeves, and Lynn Harris, the film promises a unique take on the superhero genre with its gritty and dark narrative.
