Graphic Evidence Revealed in Austin Metcalf Murder Trial: Photos of Fatal Knife Attack at High School Track Event

Newly unveiled photographs depict the fatal injury sustained by Austin Metcalf when Karmelo Anthony attacked him with a $13 knife from Walmart during a dispute at a high school track event in Texas. The disturbing images, revealed by Collin County court, reveal a severe wound on the 17-year-old football player's chest, with a forensic ruler placed next to the injury. Additional pictures display a blood-soaked jacket interior, with significant staining around the lining and visible punctures in the fabric. The jacket belonged to Joshua Rebmann, a football coach at Liberty High School, who used it to help stop Metcalf's bleeding.
The recently disclosed trial exhibits also feature images of the folding Ozark Trail multitool knife that prosecutors identified as the murder weapon. Anthony utilized the 3.5-inch serrated blade to stab Metcalf after a confrontation between the teenager, his brother, and Anthony, who was sitting in their team's tent at Memorial High School in Frisco in April of the previous year. Metcalf suffered a pierced heart and was unconscious when authorities arrived at the scene.
Anthony was found guilty of first-degree murder and received a 35-year prison sentence on Tuesday.
