Jing Yan Maintains Lead in Meijer LPGA Classic: Tight Competition Heading into Final Round
Jing Yan maintained her lead in the Meijer LPGA Classic with a 4-under 68, staying one shot ahead of the competition. She finished with a 14-under 202 total after a bogey-free round at Blythefield Country Club. Lottie Woad of England was in second place, also shooting a 68 and birdieing the 18th hole. Cassie Porter of Australia was two shots behind Yan after a 69. In Gee Chun had a strong round with a 65 to reach 10 under, along with Wei-Ling Hsu and Yan Liu, who were also at 10 under.
Yan expressed her nerves but focused on enjoying the moment and finding what works for her in this position. Woad emphasized the importance of starting strong in the final round to maintain pressure on the leaders. Porter noted the firming up of the greens on the back nine, affecting the play. The competition remains tight heading into the final round of the Meijer LPGA Classic before the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship at Hazeltine next week.
