Rideshare Driver Shot in Philadelphia's Fairmount Neighborhood: Stay Informed and Stay Safe
A rideshare driver in Philadelphia's Fairmount neighborhood was shot during an attempted robbery in the early hours of Saturday. Police responded to a report of a person shot on Poplar Street around 12:29 a.m. The 38-year-old female victim had been waiting to pick up a passenger when two men approached her vehicle. One of the suspects brandished a small handgun and, in an attempt to escape, the victim drove away, prompting the suspect to shoot her in the shoulder. The suspects fled the scene, and the victim was taken to Temple Hospital in stable condition.
The motive for the shooting was determined to be robbery, and no arrests have been made. The suspects, described as two slim-built males in their late teens to early 20s wearing all-black clothing and masks, are still at large.
