A new Australian documentary titled "Shared Table: Regional Heroes" has been acquired by Cinepolis India for a limited theatrical release later this year. The film, directed by Nandita Chakraborty, follows a group of filmmakers on a road trip across regional Victoria to explore the lives of four migrant communities through food and cultural identity. It was selected for the 19th Mumbai International Film Festival (MIFF) and is the only Australian film in the lineup.
Cinepolis India will distribute the film beyond their screens, marking a partnership with the filmmakers. Managing Director Devang Sampat expressed excitement about the documentary's themes of community, diversity, and inclusivity. The production received support from the Victorian Government and is a collaboration between CALD Community Voices and producer Niru Tripathi.
Director Nandita Chakraborty, who migrated from Kolkata to Australia in 2000, is known for her previous documentary "Piquancy: Silent Heroes" and has been recognized with the Victorian Multicultural Award for Excellence in Arts.
