Sydney Midfielder Taylor Adams Retires from AFL Career Due to Ongoing Injuries

Sydney midfielder Taylor Adams has decided to retire from his AFL career due to ongoing soft-tissue injuries. Adams, who played for GWS, Collingwood, and the Swans, made the announcement after struggling with injuries throughout the season. Despite his efforts to return from an Achilles tear and a hamstring strain, Adams faced another setback during a VFL game against Southport.

Throughout his career, Adams has battled persistent hamstring injuries, which have limited his playing time. Since joining Sydney in 2024, he has only managed to play 23 games, with just four appearances last year. Despite the challenges, Adams expressed gratitude to all three clubs he played for and acknowledged the support he received from the staff.

Drafted by GWS in 2011, Adams quickly made his mark in the AFL before being traded to Collingwood in 2013. During his time with the Magpies, he achieved significant milestones, including an All-Australian selection and winning the club's best and fairest award in 2020. Adams then joined the Swans, where he played 19 games in his first season but missed out on the 2024 grand final under coach John Longmire.

Adams reflected on his football journey, expressing pride in playing at the highest level for over a decade. He thanked the Giants, Pies, and Swans for the opportunities and support he received throughout his career. Despite the challenges he faced with injuries, Adams is now looking forward to the next chapter in his life.
