Woad was in contention throughout the tournament and held the lead heading into the final round. However, Yama****a's strong finish forced a play-off, where she secured her third LPGA Tour victory with a birdie on the 18th hole.
Yama****a's final-round charge included a round-of-the-day 64, putting her at 17 under and setting the clubhouse target. Woad, who had a two-shot lead heading into the final hole, three-putted for a closing bogey, leading to the play-off. Both players returned to the 18th hole, where Yama****a's birdie secured the victory.
Following the Meijer LPGA Classic, the women's major continues with the KPMG Women's PGA Championship at Hazeltine National in Minnesota. Defending champion Minjee Lee and Nelly Korda, who is chasing a third consecutive major victory, will be among the contenders.
