Bad Day At The Office" Premieres at Edinburgh International Film Festival's Midnight Madness Strand

The Edinburgh International Film Festival's Midnight Madness strand will kick off with the premiere of Chee Keong Cheung's film, "Bad Day At The Office." The movie follows a man who wakes up in a chaotic hotel room with no recollection of the previous night, only to find a dead body in the bathtub. This discovery leads to a series of events that plunge him and a hotel maid into a world of confusion and conspiracy. The cast includes John Hannah, Radha Mitchell, Lana Parrilla, Tamer Hassan, Branko Tomovic, Victor Gardener, Roxanne McKee, and Tim Fellingham. Produced by Action Xtreme, the film promises an intense and thrilling experience.

Cheung, along with Andreas Roald and Ionna Karavela, spearheaded the production of "Bad Day At The Office." The script was co-written by Cheung and Oliver Morran. The Midnight Madness strand at EIFF has a history of showcasing world premieres and UK premieres of various films, including Ben Wheatley's "Bulk" and "Alien: Romulus." Action Xtreme, a part of Roald's Sovereign Media Capital, is where Cheung serves as the head of distribution at Sovereign Films. Cheung expressed his gratitude to EIFF festival director Paul Ridd, producer Emma Boa, and the festival team for their support of independent filmmaking voices.

Ridd praised the film, describing it as a high-energy, violent, and darkly humorous piece of work that showcases exceptional craftsmanship and a passion for filmmaking. The upcoming EIFF 2026 will feature Louis Paxton's "The Incomer" as the opening film and Louise Lockwood's documentary "Bel" as the closing film. The full EIFF program will be unveiled on July 1, with more details about the industry offerings to be announced later. The festival continues to be a platform for diverse and innovative cinematic experiences.
