Florida Man Faces Sentencing for Death of Girlfriend's 3-Year-Old Son: Details of the Tragic Case

A man from Brevard County, Florida, is facing sentencing for the death of his girlfriend's 3-year-old son. Joshua Manns, 30, accepted a plea agreement and could be sentenced to 60 years in prison for second-degree murder. The child, Jameson Nance, died in West Melbourne after suffering severe injuries, including broken ribs, brain swelling, and stab wounds. Investigators found that the child had been abused for months leading up to his death. Manns initially claimed Jameson died from accidental drowning, but it was later revealed that he and Jameson's mother, Erica Dotson, were responsible for the fatal beating. Manns was arrested in Georgia 17 days after Jameson's death and pleaded no contest to reduced charges, including second-degree murder, child neglect, and child abuse. Dotson still faces charges related to her son's death.
