Meet the Distinguished Jury of the 83rd Venice Film Festival: A Stellar Lineup of Filmmakers and Industry Professionals

The Venice Film Festival has announced its main jury roster for this year, featuring renowned filmmakers and industry professionals. Hong Kong director Johnnie To, Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania, and Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat are among the jurors joining competition president Maggie Gyllenhaal. To, a familiar face at Venice, has had several of his films showcased at the festival, while Ben Hania's work received critical acclaim last year. Sadat, known for her unique storytelling, opened this year's Berlin Film Festival with "No Good Men."
Joining the jury are French director Xavier Giannoli, British composer Daniel Blumberg, and Italian film academic Francesco Casetti. The jury will be responsible for awarding various prizes, including the Golden Lion for best film, Silver Lion grand jury prize, best director, best actress, best actor, special jury prize, best screenplay, and the Marcello Mastroianni Award for new talent.
