Peter Asher: A Musical Journey Through History with John Lennon and Yoko Ono
Peter Asher reflects on his role in bringing together John Lennon and Yoko Ono at the Indica Gallery in London in the 1960s. Lennon visited the gallery while they were setting up a show, and the rest is history. Lennon described their first meeting on a talk show, where he saw the word "Yes" on the ceiling, leading to their connection. Asher shared that he has received mixed reactions from Beatles fans regarding Lennon and Ono's relationship, with some blaming him for the Beatles' breakup, which he firmly denies.
Despite the misconception that Ono caused the Beatles' split, George Harrison stated that the group had issues before she came into the picture. Lennon and Ono got married in 1969 and had a son, Sean, in 1975. Their relationship lasted until Lennon's tragic death in 1980. Asher, who is known for his ties to the Beatles through his sister Jane Asher's relationship with Paul McCartney, has released a documentary titled Peter Asher: Everywhere Man, which delves into his music career and connections to iconic figures like Lennon and McCartney.
The documentary premiered in New York City on June 19 and is scheduled to debut in Los Angeles and other cities on June 26. It offers a unique perspective on Asher's experiences in the music industry and his involvement in shaping music history through his collaborations and relationships with legendary artists.
