Van Buren High School Hall of Honor: Celebrating Excellence, Service, and Leadership

The Van Buren School District recently honored four distinguished alumni by inducting them into the Van Buren High School Hall of Honor. One of the honorees, Dr. Debbie Faubus Kendrick, has dedicated her career to education and empowering individuals to achieve their full potential. She has held various roles in education and currently serves as the Executive Director of the Crawford County Adult Education Center, where she has made significant contributions to adult education by focusing on helping students obtain diplomas, degrees, and certifications.
Another inductee, Shay Mooney, a 2010 graduate of Van Buren High School, has made a name for himself in the music industry as part of the duo Dan + Shay. With numerous hit singles and industry accolades, Mooney and his music partner have achieved great success in the country music scene. Beyond their musical accomplishments, Mooney and Smyers have also been actively involved in philanthropic efforts, supporting causes such as St. Jude Children's Hospital and disaster relief initiatives.
Tommy Poole, Jr., a standout high school athlete and 1985 graduate of VBHS, has been recognized for his contributions to Pointer athletics and the community. Poole excelled in basketball during his high school years and went on to have a successful career at ABF Freight System. He has also been actively involved in community service, including organizing the Boys & Girls Club of Van Buren's Alumni Association and serving as a youth sports coach.
Dorvan Wiley, a 1969 VBHS graduate, has been a prominent figure in Van Buren, known for his service and leadership. With a background in business administration, Wiley has held various leadership roles in the manufacturing and finance industries. He has also been actively involved in community organizations and initiatives, working to improve the quality of life in Van Buren.
