Ponies" Cancelled: Peacock's Cold War Spy Thriller Series Ends After One Season

Peacock has decided to cancel the Cold War spy thriller series "Ponies" after its first season. The show, starring Emilia Clarke and Haley Lu Richardson, premiered all eight episodes on Jan. 15. While receiving positive reviews from critics, "Ponies" did not make it to the Nielsen streaming top 10 charts after its release. The series follows the story of two women who become CIA operatives after their husbands are killed in the USSR under mysterious circumstances in 1977 Moscow.
The cast of "Ponies" includes Emilia Clarke, Haley Lu Richardson, Adrian Lester, Artjom Gilz, Nicholas Podany, Petro Ninovskyi, and Vic Michaelis. The show's plot revolves around Bea, played by Clarke, and Twila, played by Richardson, as they uncover a Cold War conspiracy and solve the mystery behind their husbands' deaths. The series was co-created by David Iserson and Susanna Fogel, with Iserson and Fogel also serving as executive producers. Mike Daniels was the co-showrunner and executive producer, while Emilia Clarke also served as an executive producer.
Despite the positive critical reception, "Ponies" did not meet the viewership expectations on Peacock, leading to its cancellation after one season. The show's unique premise and strong performances by the cast were highlighted in reviews, but it ultimately did not gain enough traction to continue. Fans of the series expressed disappointment over the cancellation, hoping for a potential revival or continuation of the story in the future.
