Sonja Heinen Transitions to Development Executive for MOIN's NEST Programme in Hamburg

Sonja Heinen, the outgoing managing director of European Film Promotion (EFP), will be transitioning to a new role as a development executive for the MOIN's NEST development programme in Hamburg starting September 1. The NEST programme aims to bring together screenwriters, creators, and producers to collaborate on developing fiction features, animation, documentaries, series, and innovative formats. In her new position, Heinen will oversee the development of NEST, provide support for funded projects, and facilitate the growth of the NEST community, ensuring that promising ideas evolve into successful projects for cinema, TV, and streaming platforms.

During her tenure at EFP, Heinen has been instrumental in promoting European cinema and fostering international collaborations. She is currently working alongside her successor, Irina Ignatiew-Lemke, to ensure a smooth transition until the end of July. With her extensive experience in the film industry, including leading the Berlinale Co-Production Market and managing the World Cinema Fund at the Berlin International Film Festival, Heinen is well-equipped to drive the development of NEST and connect funded projects with the market to reach a wider audience.

Her expertise and dedication to supporting emerging talent and innovative storytelling will be invaluable in nurturing creative ideas and bringing them to fruition. With her leadership, NEST is poised to become a hub for groundbreaking projects that resonate with audiences across various platforms.
