Tragic Motorcycle Accident on US 50: Carson City Man Killed, Female Passenger Critically Injured

A tragic motorcycle accident occurred on US 50 in Lander County, resulting in the death of a Carson City man and critical injuries to a female passenger. The incident took place on Sunday morning, with 68-year-old James Chapman losing his life at the scene. The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to the crash near mile marker 27, where Chapman, riding a Harley-Davidson, failed to navigate a curve, leading to the vehicle leaving the road and overturning down a ravine.
The preliminary investigation by NHP revealed that the motorcycle crossed the centerline and launched off an embankment after Chapman was unable to negotiate a right-hand curve. The female passenger, who survived the crash, suffered severe injuries and was airlifted to a regional hospital, where she remains in the Intensive Care Unit. The NHP's Major Incident Reconstruction Team (MIRT) is actively investigating the crash and seeking information from witnesses or anyone with relevant details about the incident.
