Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) Extends Invitations to 529 New Members, Including Jacob Elordi and Teyana Taylor

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has extended invitations to 529 individuals, including actors Jacob Elordi, Josh O’Connor, Teyana Taylor, and Jenna Ortega. This year's invitations mark a slight decrease from the previous year's 534 invites and a significant reduction from the larger classes invited during the post-#OscarsSoWhite membership drive. The new members represent various branches of the Academy, with the Actors Branch welcoming 29 new members, including Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, Jon Bernthal, Jemaine Clement, and others. The Animation Branch extended the most invitations, followed by the Documentary and Visual Effects Branches, while the Makeup Artists and Hairstylists Branch invited the fewest new members. Some invitees were nominated for recent Oscars, such as producers Liza Marshall and Nicolas Gonda, writer Will Tracy, and songwriters Ejae and Mark Sonnenblick. The Academy's voting membership will increase to 10,338 if all invitations are accepted, with a diverse representation of women, underrepresented communities, and international members. Each branch of the Academy has its own membership requirements, and committees review prospective members before the Board of Governors makes the final decision on invitations.
