Finding Balance: Lizzo's Vegan Journey and Weight Release
Lizzo recently shared her experience with veganism and how it impacted her health. During an interview on Big Boy’s Neighborhood, the singer discussed her weight-loss journey and the reasons behind her decision to move away from a vegan diet. Lizzo revealed that she had been following a vegan diet for nearly three years but was consuming mostly processed non-animal-derived foods, leading to a significant weight gain of 50 pounds. She attributed this weight gain to consuming a lot of fake meat and french fries, which ultimately did not work for her.
Despite feeling energetic and having stamina while rehearsing and working out, Lizzo started experiencing physical aches and pains, including lower back and knee pain. Although doctors initially considered her healthy, Lizzo realized that her vegan diet was not suitable for her body. She documented her weight loss journey, which she refers to as a "weight release," and even mentioned briefly using Ozempic to aid in her weight loss efforts.
In a previous podcast appearance, Lizzo shared that she consumed between 3,000-5,000 calories a day while following a vegan diet. She expressed her belief in the health benefits of veganism and her aspiration to become a raw vegan in the future. However, she acknowledged that her body needed animal protein to function optimally and provide the energy she required. Lizzo emphasized that while veganism may work for some, it was not the right dietary choice for her at that time.
Lizzo's journey highlights the importance of finding a diet that suits individual needs and promotes overall well-being. It serves as a reminder that what works for one person may not work for another, emphasizing the significance of listening to one's body and making informed dietary choices based on personal health requirements.
