Actresses Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock are back on set for the highly anticipated sequel to the 1998 fantasy film 'Practical Magic'. Kidman, 59, and Bullock, 61, shared sneak peeks from the filming of 'Practical Magic 2', where they reprise their roles as the mystical sisters Sally and Gillian Owens. Kidman shared a photo on Instagram holding a black cat, while Bullock posted an image of her character Sally with new cast members Maisie Williams and Joey King. The film is set to be released on September 11, as hinted by Bullock's caption.
'Game of Thrones' star Maisie Williams, 29, also shared glimpses from the set on her Instagram Stories, including a rainbow over the filming location in England and a spread of sweet treats. The trailer for 'Practical Magic 2' was released in April, 28 years after the original film. The sequel follows the Owens sisters as they encounter a mysterious figure, played by actor Lee Pace, who disrupts their quiet New England town. Warner Bros. teased that "The magic returns" in the upcoming film.
Nicole Kidman first announced the sequel during a June 2024 interview, revealing that she and Bullock had found a way to revisit the world of 'Practical Magic'. The duo excited fans at CinemaCon in Las Vegas by announcing, "The witches are back!" The screenplay for the sequel is co-written by original screenwriter Akiva Goldsman and 'Succession' writer Georgia Pritchett, with Bullock and Kidman also serving as producers. The new cast includes Joey King as Sally's daughter, along with Maisie Williams, Xolo Mariduena, and Solly McLeod. Stockard Channing and Dianne Wiest will reprise their roles as the Owens sisters' quirky aunts.
