EasyJet Launches Direct Flights from Belfast to Budapest for Winter Travel

EasyJet is set to introduce a new direct flight service from Belfast International Airport to Budapest this winter. The budget airline, a major carrier in Northern Ireland, will begin operating the flights starting on November 17, 2026. This move comes after Ryanair discontinued its Budapest route at the airport earlier this year. Despite including Budapest in its winter schedule for 2025/26, Ryanair did not continue the flights into the spring and summer seasons. EasyJet has now taken the opportunity to launch its first direct service to Budapest from Belfast International Airport as part of its winter program. The flights will operate twice a week, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Kevin Doyle, EasyJet's UK country manager, expressed excitement about the new route, stating that the Christmas service to Budapest is ideal for travelers looking for a magical festive getaway to a city known for its thermal baths, architecture, and nightlife. Kate Sherry, the chief commercial officer at Belfast International Airport, welcomed the return of Budapest to the airport's network, emphasizing the importance of reconnecting Northern Ireland with a culturally rich European capital. She highlighted EasyJet's decision to reinstate the Budapest route as a demonstration of the airport's commitment to providing more travel options and supporting tourism and business growth in the region.
EasyJet holds a significant presence in Northern Ireland, offering a wide range of routes across Belfast International, Belfast City, and City of Derry airports. With more than 50 routes in its program, EasyJet plays a key role in connecting passengers to various destinations from these airports. The addition of the new direct service to Budapest further expands the airline's offerings and provides travelers with more choices for their travel plans. The launch of this route signifies EasyJet's commitment to serving the Northern Ireland market and enhancing connectivity between the region and popular European destinations.
