Nightborn: A Finnish Horror Film Premiering on Shudder

Shudder has secured the rights to Nightborn, a new horror film by Finnish director Hanna Bergholm, which premiered at the Berlin Film Festival. The film will make its North American debut at the Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal on July 22 and will be available on Shudder starting July 31. Nightborn follows a couple who move to an isolated house in the Finnish forest to start a family, but things take a dark turn after the birth of their son.
The movie stars Seidi Haarla and Rupert Grint and explores themes of parenthood, self-discovery, and horror. Bergholm's second feature film has been described as tense, shocking, and humorous by Shudder's senior vice president of acquisitions and production, Emily Gotto. The cast also includes Pamela Tola, Pirkko Saisio, Rebecca Lacey, and John Thomson.
Nightborn, produced by Daniel Kuitunen for Elokuvayhtiö Komeetta Oy, received critical acclaim at the Berlin Film Festival for its stomach-churning and thought-provoking storyline. The film delves into the fears and anxieties that many new parents face, a theme that resonated with Rupert Grint, who plays one of the lead roles in the movie.
Shudder's acquisition of Nightborn was finalized by Emily Gotto and Noémi Devide on behalf of Goodfellas. The film promises to deliver a unique and chilling experience to horror fans, exploring the darker side of parenthood and the human psyche. Don't miss the opportunity to watch Nightborn on Shudder starting July 31.
