Oscar Onley's Absence from Tour de France Due to Shoulder Injury: Netcompany-Ineos Confirms
Oscar Onley will not be participating in the upcoming Tour de France due to a shoulder injury, as confirmed by his team Netcompany-Ineos. The 23-year-old cyclist from Scotland sustained the injury during a crash on stage six of the Tour Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes in France. Initially thought to be a dislocated shoulder, further tests revealed that Onley had a more significant shoulder injury. Last year, Onley achieved a notable fourth-place finish in the Tour de France, matching the best result by a Scottish rider set by Philippa York (formerly known as Robert Millar) in 1984. Despite the setback, Onley expressed disappointment at missing the Tour de France but remains determined to recover and make the most of the season.
Onley's team, Netcompany-Ineos, stated that he has already started rehabilitation and is showing positive progress in his recovery from the shoulder injury. The Tour de France is set to commence in Barcelona on 4 July and conclude at the iconic Champs-Elysees in Paris on 26 July. The absence of Onley from the competition will be a loss for fans and supporters, but his commitment to rehabilitation and determination to return stronger in the future are commendable.
