Empowering AI Firms: Firmus Technologies' Strategic Partnership with Nvidia to Drive Innovation
Firmus Technologies, an Australian AI infrastructure company, announced a strategic partnership with Nvidia Corp to offer cost-effective computing power to emerging AI firms. The agreement involves Firmus purchasing Nvidia infrastructure and providing Nvidia-powered cloud services to AI Native customers, generating product revenue and a share of cloud revenue for Nvidia. The deal will supply 170,000 GPUs from the first quarter of 2027 to the beginning of 2028, located in Batam, Indonesia, with an expected revenue of up to $30 billion in the first six years.
This partnership aims to facilitate access to technology infrastructure for smaller and developing AI firms, bridging the cost gap between established players and up-and-coming companies. Firmus co-chief executive Tim Rosenfield highlighted the significance of leveling the playing field to enable emerging firms to compete with larger entities. Nvidia has previously invested in Firmus through capital raisings, solidifying its position as an investor in the Australian company.
In April, Firmus raised $1.35 billion over six months, resulting in a $5.5 billion post-money valuation. The company has engaged investment banks to explore the possibility of an initial public offering (IPO), although Rosenfield refrained from commenting on Firmus' IPO preparations. This strategic partnership with Nvidia underscores Firmus Technologies' commitment to empowering AI firms with accessible computing resources and driving innovation in the industry.
