Tragic Car Crash in Hardin County: Kentucky State Police Investigate DUI-Related Incident Resulting in Juvenile Fatality

Kentucky State Police are currently investigating a tragic incident involving a car crash that resulted in the death of a juvenile passenger. The accident occurred in Hardin County when a 2005 Ford Mustang overturned into a flooded creek on Bewley Hollow Road. Despite the vehicle being partially submerged, troopers and local officials managed to rescue three occupants from the car. The driver, David Rhodes, 44, of Elizabethtown, was treated and released, while one juvenile sustained life-threatening injuries and unfortunately passed away at Norton Children’s Hospital the following day. Another juvenile was also injured but has since been released from medical care. Rhodes was found to be under the influence of alcohol and has been arrested on charges of DUI and first-degree assault, with more charges anticipated. This is a tragic incident that serves as a reminder of the dangers of impaired driving.
