USC Trojans Baseball Adds Left-Handed Pitcher Anthony Gubitosi to Roster for 2027 Season

The USC Trojans baseball team has added left-handed pitcher Anthony Gubitosi to their roster through the transfer portal. Gubitosi, who will be entering his fifth collegiate season, previously played at Delaware for two seasons before transferring to the Indiana Hoosiers for the 2025 and 2026 seasons. This offseason, Gubitosi made the decision to join USC, expressing his excitement with a "Let's do it. Fight on" message on his X account. With 10 bullpen appearances last season, Gubitosi pitched 12.2 innings, allowing six runs on 11 hits with eight walks, resulting in an earned run average of 4.26. Throughout his collegiate career, he has pitched a total of 87.2 innings with an earned run average of 5.13, aiming to make a strong impact with the Trojans in 2027.
USC baseball has shown positive progress in recent years, making it to the NCAA Tournament in the past two seasons after missing out from 2016 to 2024. Despite falling short in the regional championship games in 2025 and 2026, the Trojans have demonstrated their competitiveness. In a heartbreaking loss in 2026, USC was on the verge of advancing to the Super Regional but was unable to secure the win, ultimately being eliminated by North Carolina in a dramatic game three. Despite this setback, USC had a successful season with a 48-18 overall record and a 20-10 conference record, tying for third place in the Big Ten with the Oregon Ducks.
Looking ahead to the 2027 season, USC aims to build on their recent successes and advance further in the postseason. With the goal of reaching the Super Regional and potentially the College World Series, the Trojans are determined to continue their upward trajectory in the competitive college baseball landscape.
