Bad Bridgets: A Period Revenge Thriller Starring Colin Farrell and Steve Coogan

Colin Farrell, Steve Coogan, Charlie Heaton, and Domhnall Gleeson have been announced as part of the cast for the upcoming Irish period revenge thriller, Bad Bridgets, which will be available on Netflix. The film, written, produced, and directed by Rich Peppiatt, will also feature Himesh Patel, Niamh Algar, and Simone Kirby in key roles. The production is a collaboration between LuckyChap and Coup d’Etat banners, with Cáit Collins as the executive producer, Ryan Kernaghan as the cinematographer, James Price as the production designer, and Kate Hawley as the costume designer.
Bad Bridgets follows the story of a young Irish woman who receives a mysterious letter offering her an escape to 19th-century New York, leading her into the chaotic world of the Bridgets. The film is inspired by the book Bad Bridget: Crime, Mayhem, and the Lives of Irish Emigrant Women by Elaine Farrell and Leanne McCormick, and has been developed with the support of Queens University in Belfast. The project has received backing from Northern Ireland Screen and is set to begin filming in Northern Ireland and Ireland in mid-July.
The movie delves into the history of Irish women emigrants who were labeled as troublemakers, shedding light on the fact that Irish women outnumbered Irish men in prison during a certain period.
