Call for Entries: Fondazione Prada Film Fund 2027 - Supporting Independent Filmmakers Worldwide

Fondazione Prada in Italy has announced a second call for entries for its annual Film Fund, which supports independent filmmakers worldwide. The fund grants a total of €1.5m to selected projects, with submissions open until August 6 for projects in production and until September 10 for projects in development and post-production. Last year, the fund supported 14 projects, including works by acclaimed directors like Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Hlynur Pálmason, with a focus on artistic quality, formal risk, and thematic urgency.

The selection process for the Fondazione Prada Film Fund is open to projects of any genre and from any location, with a financial contribution of up to €250,000 provided to the main production company. The fund aims to reflect the diversity and energy of contemporary auteur cinema, with a preference for works that push boundaries and challenge conventions. The final selection for this year's fund will be announced in February 2027, led by Paolo Moretti, the curator of Fondazione Prada’s Cinema Godard programme.

Miuccia Prada, president and director of Fondazione Prada, emphasized the organization's commitment to supporting filmmakers who embody a bold and visionary approach to cinema. The success of the first edition of the Film Fund exceeded expectations, showcasing the enduring importance of independent cinema as a platform for innovation and creative freedom. With the second edition of the fund, Fondazione Prada continues to champion filmmakers and industry professionals who strive for excellence and originality in their work.
