Ford Recalls Over 741,000 Vehicles for Transmission Defect and Fender Flare Issue
Ford is issuing a recall for 741,195 vehicles in the U.S. due to a transmission defect that could potentially damage the park system, leading to the risk of vehicles rolling away, as reported by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The affected vehicles include certain models from 2018 to 2021, such as Navigator, Expedition, Explorer, Lincoln Aviator, and F-150. Dealers will address the issue by updating the software, inspecting, and replacing any damaged transmission components at no cost.
In addition to the transmission recall, Ford is also recalling 36,046 Bronco vehicles in the U.S. due to improperly secured fender flares that could detach from the vehicle, posing a road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash. Fender flares are the curved extensions above the tires that enclose the vehicle's wheel arches. Dealers will inspect and repair or replace the fender flares as needed, free of charge, as part of the recall remedy, according to the NHTSA.
