NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan has unveiled the trailer for From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2, showcasing an action-packed season that builds on the grounded swordplay and character-driven storytelling of the previous season. The new season is set to premiere on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, in Japan, airing on TV Asahi's IMAnimation W programming block, as well as on BS Asahi and AT-X. It will be available for streaming exclusively on Amazon Prime Video starting from Thursday, July 9.
Season 2 of the anime will be animated by two studios, Passione and Hayabusa Film, under the direction of Akio Kazumi. Along with the returning cast, the new season will introduce four new characters to the storyline, adding depth and intrigue to Beryl Gardenant's journey.
From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman is adapted from the light novel series by Shigeru Sagazaki, originally starting as a web novel on Shōsetsuka ni Narō in November 2020. Published by Square Enix under their SQEX Novel imprint in April 2021, the series follows the story of Beryl Gardenant, a middle-aged swordsman whose life takes a dramatic turn when he is recruited to teach sword-fighting techniques in the capital. Season 1, consisting of 13 episodes, is currently available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
