Edmonton Oilers Acquire Goaltender Devon Levi in Trade with Buffalo Sabres

The Edmonton Oilers have made a trade with the Buffalo Sabres to acquire goaltender Devon Levi and a 2028 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2028 third-round selection. Levi, 24, played for the AHL's Rochester Americans last season, posting a .904 save percentage and a 2.83 goals-against average. In the playoffs, he had a 2.71 GAA and a .919 save percentage as his team exited in the first round of the Calder Cup playoffs. Levi is in the final year of his two-year, $1.625 million contract with a $812,000 cap hit and will be a restricted free agent after the 2026-27 season. Drafted by the Florida Panthers in 2020, Levi was traded to the Sabres in 2021 as part of a deal for forward Sam Reinhart. He holds a career record of 17-17-2 with the Sabres.

Originally from Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec, Levi has represented Canada at international competitions, winning a gold medal at the 2023 World Hockey Championship and a silver medal at the 2021 World Juniors. The Oilers are looking to bolster their goaltending depth with the addition of Levi, who brings experience and potential to the team. This trade provides the Oilers with a promising young goaltender and adds depth to their roster as they aim to compete in the upcoming season.
