Exploring Kang the Conqueror's Alternate Universe in X-Men '97 Season 2

Marvel has reintroduced Kang the Conqueror in a surprising way in 2026. Originally planned to be the main villain of the Multiverse Saga, Kang's role shifted after Jonathan Majors was replaced. Now, Robert Downey Jr. will portray Doctor Doom, the new ultimate villain in the upcoming Avengers movie, Avengers: Doomsday. Despite this change, Kang's variants are not entirely forgotten by Marvel Studios.
In the first three episodes of X-Men '97 on Disney+, a version of Kang the Conqueror appears in a separate universe. The X-Men are split across two timelines, with one group in the future preparing to face Apocalypse and another in Ancient Egypt dealing with Kang as the pharaoh Rama-Tut. This version of Kang is voiced by John de Lancie and differs from the traditional Kang appearance.
The use of Rama-Tut in X-Men '97 season 2 is intriguing, especially considering the character's potential in the MCU. In the now-scrapped Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Rama-Tut would have likely been a main villain. Despite the missed opportunity in live-action, X-Men '97 season 2's storyline involving Kang the Conqueror adds an exciting twist to the character's narrative.
