New Jersey Devils Extend Offer Sheet to Barrett Hayton from Utah Mammoth

The New Jersey Devils have officially extended an offer sheet to Barrett Hayton, a center from the Utah Mammoth. The offer is for a one-year contract worth $4,775,000 annually, with a second-round draft pick as compensation. General Manager Sunny Mehta made the announcement today. The Mammoth now has seven days to decide whether to match the offer or accept the draft pick compensation, as per the NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Hayton, 26, had a productive season with Utah, tallying 25 points in 67 games, including four power-play goals and a career-high 54 penalty minutes. He also made an appearance in the 2026 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Throughout his NHL career, which began in 2019 with Arizona, Hayton has accumulated 155 points in 358 games. After playing for Arizona, he joined the Utah organization.
New Jersey will wait for the Mammoth's decision before making any further comments on the situation. The outcome will determine whether Hayton joins the Devils or remains with the Mammoth.
