Paul Dano Joins Star-Studded Cast of Paramount Pictures' Possession Remake

Paul Dano has joined the star-studded cast of Paramount Pictures' upcoming remake of Possession. The original film, released in 1981 and directed by Andrzej Żuławski, was a psychological horror drama starring Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani. Dano, known for his roles in There Will Be Blood and The Batman, will star alongside Callum Turner and Margaret Qualley in writer-director Parker Finn's remake of Possession.
The plot of the remake is being kept under wraps, while the original film follows the story of Mark, an international spy played by Neill, who discovers his wife Anna, portrayed by Adjani, is having an affair. As Mark delves deeper into the situation, he uncovers disturbing behavior in Anna. The original cast also includes Margit Carstensen, Heinz Bennent, Johanna Hofer, Carl Duering, Shaun Lawton, and Michael Hogben.
Despite its commercial underperformance, the original Possession received positive critical reviews, currently holding an 87% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Robert Pattinson was initially attached to the project as a producer and potential star in 2024, but it appears he will not be appearing in the film. However, Pattinson will continue to serve as a producer alongside Finn, Roy Lee, and Andrew Childs.
The Possession remake does not have a confirmed release date yet. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project.
