David Bowie: On Tour - Exploring the Icon's Legacy Across the UK

The David Bowie archive from the V&A is embarking on a UK tour, showcasing 100 unique items related to the iconic star. The exhibition, titled David Bowie: On Tour, will feature never-before-seen costumes, sketches, and instruments from Bowie's career. The tour will kick off at the V&A Dundee in November and run until February 2027.

Sir Tristram Hunt, the director of the V&A, expressed excitement about the national partnership, stating that the exhibition will bring Bowie's extraordinary archive to audiences across the UK for the first time. The exhibition will be divided into four sections, highlighting key moments in Bowie's life and legacy, including his time in Berlin recording albums like Low and Heroes.

Visitors can expect to see a range of items, such as Bowie's keys from his Berlin apartment, concept art for album covers, and iconic costumes from music videos. The exhibition will travel to various locations, including Blackpool, County Durham, Hull, and Bristol, with more venues to be announced in the future.

The David Bowie Centre at the V&A Storehouse, which opened last year, serves as a permanent home for the archive and features a display of artifacts celebrating Bowie's career. Known for his musical innovation and ever-evolving style, Bowie left a lasting impact on the music industry with hits like Space Oddity, Ashes To Ashes, and Sound And Vision.

Throughout his career, Bowie explored various genres, from glam rock to soul, dance, and jazz, collaborating with artists like Queen and Mick Jagger. His final album, Blackstar, released on his 69th birthday, marked a poignant end to his legendary career. The exhibition offers fans a unique opportunity to delve into the world of one of music's most influential artists.
