Director Pierre Coffin Clarifies Rumors About Bonnie Blue Reference in Minions & Monsters Promo Clip
The director of Minions & Monsters, Pierre Coffin, recently addressed rumors that he referenced adult content creator Bonnie Blue in a promo clip for the film. In the clip, a Minion character mentions names like Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter, and what some thought sounded like Bonnie. However, Coffin clarified in an interview that he was not talking about Bonnie and had no knowledge of her at the time.
Coffin explained that he actually mentioned the name of one of the movie's animators, Omid Rajabalipour, which may have been misheard as "Bonnie Blue" due to the Minions' unique language. Despite the confusion, Coffin confirmed that he did not reference Bonnie Blue in the clip.
Minions & Monsters, which was released on July 1, had a five-day opening of $64 million, marking a franchise low. However, the film has performed well internationally, earning $100 million at the foreign box office and a total global haul of $164.5 million.
Set in 1927, Minions & Monsters follows the yellow creatures as they venture into Old Hollywood to create a monster movie. The film features a star-studded cast including Trey Parker, Jeff Bridges, Christoph Waltz, Jesse Eisenberg, and Bobby Moynihan.
