Man Arrested for Attempted Murder of Police Officer in Kalihi Incident
A 42-year-old man in Kalihi was arrested for an incident involving an unmarked police car and officers on Friday evening. The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is conducting an attempted murder investigation following the events that occurred at 6 p.m. on July 3, 2026. The suspect was reportedly working on a car blocking a road when HPD officers approached him. The suspect quickly entered the car and drove towards one of the officers, narrowly missing him. However, the suspect's car collided with an unmarked police vehicle, leading to his arrest for first-degree attempted murder on a law enforcement officer and resisting an order to stop. The case will be reviewed by the prosecutors' office. Fortunately, no officers were injured during the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
