Police Appeal for Information on Violent Assault in East Kilbride

A violent assault occurred in East Kilbride, resulting in a man sustaining serious injuries. The incident took place at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, 1 July, 2026, on the footpath at The Murray Road, near Westwood Hill junction. The 42-year-old victim was attacked by two men while he was out walking and was subsequently hospitalized at Hairmyres Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Detective Constable Ross Burgess emphasized the severity of the assault and urged anyone who might have witnessed the two men in The Murray Road or Westwood Hill area on the evening of the incident to come forward. He also requested individuals with private CCTV or dash-cam footage to assist in the investigation.
The first suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5ft 10in tall, with a slim build, wearing a black tammy hat and a blue or grey jumper. The second suspect is described as a white male, around 5ft 8in tall, with a slim build, wearing a blue or grey hat and a light blue top. The police have been examining CCTV footage from the vicinity to gather more information.
