New Wheelsets Unveiled at Tour de France: Shimano and Enve Showcase Latest Offerings with UAE Team Emirates and Alpecin-Primer Tech

Shimano and Enve are showcasing new wheelsets at the Tour de France, with the UAE Team Emirates and Alpecin-Primer Tech teams sporting the unreleased offerings at the start of stage two. The Tour de France kicked off its drop bar program on stage two, starting in Tarragona, Spain, and finishing with a hilly circuit in Barcelona. The UAE Team Emirates introduced what appears to be a new SES 6.7 PRO wheelset for the occasion.

Enve's latest wheel offerings, including the 100 and DISC time trial wheels, were unveiled during the team time trial, expanding on the existing SES 4.5 lineup. The new SES 6.7 PRO wheelset likely underwent adjustments to comply with the UCI's regulation requiring road racing rims to have a depth of less than 65mm. The non-PRO 6.7 spec previously featured a 67mm deep rear rim profile.

On the other hand, Shimano's new wheelset was less conspicuous but hinted at a forthcoming product launch with Alpecin-Premier Tech. The team, a prominent partner of Shimano, has been consistently using Shimano wheels in road races. While a Scope wheel with covered logos was spotted during the time trial, the road bike setup for the team showcased a more traditional carbon wheel design, possibly hinting at the upcoming release from the team's wheel partner.

Although details on both wheelsets are limited at the moment, a closer examination of the wheels on the team cars before the stage provided some insights into the new offerings.
