Kara: The Rising Jedi - A New Star Wars Adventure

A new Jedi character named Kara is set to make her debut in an upcoming Star Wars show, offering a fresh perspective reminiscent of Luke Skywalker. Created by Kenji Kamiyama and character designer Tetsuya Nishio, Kara draws inspiration from Princess Leia Organa. Her journey from humble beginnings to becoming a Jedi is a central theme in the upcoming spinoff series Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, following her introduction in the 2021 short film The Ninth Jedi from Star Wars: Visions Volume 1.

Director Shunsuke Tada highlighted Kara's growth as a character, drawing parallels to Luke Skywalker's evolution from an unknown boy to a true Jedi. Kara's development focuses on her personal growth rather than seeking approval from others. Kamiyama described Kara as a modern character with a natural talent for the Force, gradually discovering her abilities as she faces challenges and Jedi Hunters in the series.

The upcoming Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, directed by Shunsuke Tada and written by Mitsuyasu Sakai, consists of eight episodes. The series was first showcased at Anime Expo on July 1, 2026, and is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on August 5, 2026.
