On July 6, 2020, the music world lost a legend as Charlie Daniels passed away at the age of 83 in Hermitage, Tennessee. While he is best known for his iconic song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," Daniels had a diverse and influential career. He started as a talented fiddle and guitar player in his teens and went on to work with renowned artists like Bob Dylan and Ringo Starr. His debut album in 1970 marked one of the early Southern rock releases, showcasing his versatility and musical prowess.
Beginning his musical journey in the 1950s with the Misty Mountain Boys, a bluegrass group, Daniels quickly honed his skills and ventured into rock music with the Rockets, later known as the Jaguars. Collaborating with Bob Johnston, Daniels made his mark as a session musician in Nashville, contributing to albums by Dylan, Starr, and Leonard Cohen, among others.
