Highlights from the 2026 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival: Celebrating Industry Excellence and Emerging Talent

The inaugural winners of the 2026 Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF) have been announced, recognizing outstanding projects in the works-in-progress market and industry section KVIFF Promises. The festival's 60th edition is scheduled to take place from July 3 to 11. Hugo Rosák, the head of the KVIFF Film Industry Office, emphasized the potential of Central Europe to become a significant player in the audiovisual industry through the festival's industry activities.
This year, a total of 38 film and series projects or IPs were presented at the festival, with various awards being granted to deserving projects. The Eurimages Co-production Development Award, sponsored by the Eurimages fund, was awarded to the project "Selamlik" from Sweden and Denmark, directed by Jerry Carlsson and written by Khaled Alesmael. The jury recognized the project's poignant narrative set against the backdrop of war and displacement.
Additionally, the Eurimages Special Co-production Development Award was presented to the Ukrainian project "Reminiscence," directed and written by Anastasia Tykha. The jury commended the project for its exploration of universal themes and its potential to attract European partners for collaboration. The festival also featured awards such as the MIDPOINT & KVIFF Development Award, Connecting Cottbus Award, Rotterdam Lab Award, and Marché du Film Producers Network Award, recognizing outstanding talent and promising projects in the industry.
