Summer Events in Savannah: Music, Movies, Art, and More!

Join us for a talk by Tybee MLK Human Rights leader Julia Pearce on East Coast lazarettos, the Tybee Lazaretto, and efforts to preserve their history. The event is recommended for teens and up and will take place at the Tybee branch of the Live Oak Public Library on Butler Avenue in Tybee Island from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.

As part of the Lucas Theater’s Endless Summer movies series, don't miss the screening of “The Shawshank Redemption.” The story follows Andy Dufresne, a banker wrongfully convicted and sentenced to life in Shawshank Prison. Tickets are free for SCAD card holders, $5 for students, seniors, and military, and $8 for the public. The screening will be held at the Lucas Theater for the Arts on Abercorn Street in Savannah at 7 p.m.

Art Stryngs Gallery presents the opening of “SUMMER FREQUENCIES: Where Sound and Summer Move in Rhythm.” Explore contemporary art, live music, wine, and hors d’oeuvres as artists delve into the visual language of music. The event will feature Michelle Murphy, Eric Wooddell, Mia Amanda, and more. The gallery is located on E. Liberty Street in Savannah and the opening will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

CinemaSavannah will screen the Southeast premiere of “Kangaroo Island” at the Otis S. Johnson Cultural Arts Center. The film tells the story of a Hollywood actress returning to her family on Kangaroo Island. The screening will include a welcome message from the director, Tim David. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the box office, with cash preferred. The screening starts at 7 p.m.

Auspicious Baking Co. and Bread & Butter present the Bread Butter & Jam Music Festival featuring Velvet Caravan, VooDoo Soup, Xuluprophet, and more. General admission tickets are $25, and VIP tickets are $100, including a swag bag and VIP bar service. The festival will be held at Auspicious on Bryan Woods Road in Whitemarsh Island from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Hop Atomica and Renegade Paws Rescue team up for the Dog Days of Summer event. Get a portrait of your pet or adopt one, with a portion of proceeds going to the animal rescue nonprofit. The event will take place at Hop Atomica on E. 39th Street in Savannah from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Join us at the Lucas Theater for the Arts for a screening of “The Little Mermaid” as part of the Once Upon a Summer movie series. Follow Ariel's adventures in this Disney family classic. Tickets are $5 for SCAD card holders, students, seniors, and military, and $8 for the public. Children 12 and under get free admission. The screening is at 2 p.m.

Experience a healing sound bath with sound healing practitioner Carol Melton at the historic Tybee Post Theater. Relax, destress, and realign your body with the healing power of sound. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased in advance or at the box office. Bring a yoga mat or blanket to lie on the floor. The sessions will be held at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Don't miss the afterparty at Broughton Street Brew and Bowl with Bridgeport CT band Big Shrimp on Tuesday night and local favorites Wymberly on Wednesday following Phish's concert at the Enmarket Arena. The afterparty starts at 11 p.m. on Broughton Street in Savannah.
