TIFF 2021 Lineup: Premiere of 'Being Heumann' and More Exciting World Premieres

The Toronto International Film Festival's 51st edition will kick off with the premiere of Sian Heder's activist drama "Being Heumann," featuring Ruth Madeley as disability rights advocate Judith Heumann. The film is based on Heumann's memoir and follows her leadership in a protest to enforce accessibility in federal spaces. The festival will also showcase two other world premieres: "Prima Facie," starring Cynthia Erivo, and "The Assassin(s)" by Korean filmmaker Hur Jin-ho. "Prima Facie" explores the story of a London attorney whose faith in the legal system is tested after a traumatic event, while "The Assassin(s)" is a political thriller centered around a 1974 assassination attempt on the Korean president. TIFF CEO Cameron Bailey expressed excitement about the lineup, highlighting the performances and storytelling in the selected films. The festival will run from September 10 to 20, with more details on the lineup yet to be revealed.
