U2's Street Of Dreams: A Glimpse into Their Highly Anticipated Album and Music Video

Irish rock icons U2 are gearing up to unveil their first full-length studio album of original material in nearly a decade, accompanied by a fresh single titled Street Of Dreams. The highly anticipated album, led by frontman Bono, is slated for release later this year, with the single Street Of Dreams already out as of Tuesday. The band shot the music video for the single in Mexico City during their attendance at the 2026 Street Child World Cup Finals Tournament at Parque Ecologico Lago Ae Texcoco. The video captures the band members - Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr - performing for enthusiastic fans near Plaza Santo Domingo, with an unexpected interruption from thunder and rain leading to a heartwarming moment when a local family invited the band into their apartment to continue filming from their balcony.

The single, released under Island Records and produced by Jacknife Lee, coincides with U2's upcoming 50th anniversary celebration in 2026. The music video, featuring the band performing on top of a graffiti-covered bus to a lively audience, pays homage to the iconic visuals of their 1987 hit Where The Streets Have No Name. With a musical journey that began in Dublin in 1976, U2 has built an impressive discography, boasting seven UK number one singles and 11 chart-topping albums. Their forthcoming album follows the release of 2023's Songs Of Surrender, which included reimagined versions of their classic tracks, and 2017's Songs Of Experience, the follow-up to 2014's Songs Of Innocence, famously added to iPhone libraries upon its release. Some of U2's most recognizable songs include Sunday Bloody Sunday, Beautiful Day, and Vertigo.

Earlier this year, U2, alongside Bruce Springsteen, released songs in response to current events in America, particularly the tragic shooting of Renee Good by ICE agents in Minneapolis. Their latest offering, a six-song EP titled Days of Ash, is described as a direct response to ongoing events and is inspired by the courageous individuals fighting for freedom. Bono, in a statement, emphasized that the EP's tracks convey a different mood and theme compared to the upcoming album's content. He expressed that these songs couldn't wait to be shared with the world, as they reflect defiance, dismay, and lamentation. Bono also hinted at forthcoming songs of celebration, currently in the works, to counter the distressing realities portrayed in the media. The band's aim is to stand up against the challenges of the present before regaining faith in the future and in each other.
