Common Ground: Boston Common Golf's Initiative to Make Golf Accessible to Youth

Boston Common Golf, in collaboration with singer-songwriter Noah Kahan and PGA Tour star Keegan Bradley, has launched a new community impact program called "Common Ground." The program aims to make golf more accessible to young people by offering them the opportunity to learn and play the game at an affordable price. Kids can participate in the program at the George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park for just $5 throughout the summer. This initiative is designed to introduce golf to children from diverse backgrounds and provide them with a new outlet for recreation and personal growth.
During a recent event at the golf course, 70 young participants from various neighborhoods in Boston had the chance to try their hand at golf for the first time. Both Kahan and Bradley emphasized the importance of creating opportunities for young people to engage in the sport and develop new skills. They believe that golf can serve as a valuable tool for building confidence, forming connections, and finding moments of peace and relaxation in a fast-paced world.
The organizers of the program hope to inspire young individuals to explore new interests and discover the benefits of playing golf. By offering affordable access to the sport and hosting community events, Boston Common Golf aims to create a welcoming environment for all aspiring golfers in the city. Mayor Michelle Wu expressed her support for initiatives like "Common Ground," emphasizing the city's commitment to providing diverse opportunities for youth to explore their passions and expand their horizons.
As Boston Common Golf continues to expand its presence in the community, more events and programs are planned to engage young people and promote the game of golf. Through partnerships with local leaders and influential figures like Kahan and Bradley, the organization is dedicated to fostering a love for golf among the next generation of players. By offering affordable and inclusive opportunities for youth to experience the sport, Boston Common Golf is paving the way for a more diverse and vibrant golfing community in the city.
