The 11-minute performance is set to take place on July 19th at the New York New Jersey Stadium, also known as MetLife. The show, organized by FIFA and Global Citizen, marks the first halftime show in FIFA World Cup history and promises to be a spectacular event.
In addition to Justin Bieber, other performers announced for the halftime show include Burna Boy, conductor Gustavo Dudamel, New York’s PS22 Chorus, and Coldplay. The show has been curated by Coldplay's Chris Martin, who has been actively involved with Global Citizen in assembling the lineup. The performance is expected to be one of the most-watched musical broadcasts ever, surpassing the viewership of the Super Bowl.
The halftime show aims to raise awareness and funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, a joint initiative that seeks to raise $100 million to enhance access to education and football opportunities for children worldwide. Over $50 million has already been raised, with a portion of ticket sales from the FIFA World Cup 2026 matches contributing to the campaign. The show will also feature appearances by characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets, including Kermit and Miss Piggy.
The lineup for the halftime show represents the largest gathering of artists united for a cause since Live Aid, according to Global Citizen CEO Hugh Evans. As the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaches its final stages, the excitement is building with the quarterfinals underway.
