Marvel's Nova Series: New Writer Michael Waldron Brings Fresh Perspective to Disney+ Project
Marvel's Nova series has secured a new writer, Michael Waldron, according to the Writers Guild of America West directory. Waldron's involvement in the Disney+ project has sparked discussions among MCU fans due to his background in the Rick & Morty writers' room and his previous work on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Avengers films.
The development of the Nova project by Marvel Studios has been ongoing for several years, with Kevin Feige mentioning the character's potential in 2018. Initially attached to the project was Sabir Pirzada, followed by Ed Bernero as the writer and showrunner. The series is set to feature the Richard Rider version of Nova, as confirmed by Feige in 2024.
Despite a setback in development in 2025, the project has now resumed with Waldron on board as the writer. Bernero remains attached as the showrunner for the upcoming Disney+ series. Waldron, known for creating the Loki series and co-creating the Hulu comedy Chad Powers, has signed an overall deal with 20th Television through his production company Anomaly Pictures.
